Benefit of the Resurrection: Part 1
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christian faith, and its benefits are immeasurable and transformative. In John 11:20-27, we see a poignant moment where Jesus offers profound hope and assurance to Martha, who is grieving the death of her brother Lazarus. When Martha hears that Jesus is coming, she goes out to meet Him and expresses her sorrow and faith, saying, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus responds with a powerful declaration: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Martha’s response, affirming her belief in Jesus as the Messiah, highlights the central benefit of the resurrection: the promise of eternal life for all who believe. This promise brings comfort and hope, transcending the pain of death and loss.
The resurrection assures us that death is not the end but a transition to a new and eternal life with God. It validates Jesus’ divinity and His victory over sin and death, providing the foundation for our faith and hope. Through His resurrection, Jesus offers us a new life marked by the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to live with purpose, joy, and peace even amid life’s trials. This new life is characterized by a deep relationship with God, empowered by the knowledge that nothing can separate us from His love. As we reflect on this first part of the series, we are reminded that the resurrection is not just a future event but a present reality that transforms our lives here and now.
As you listen or watch this sermon, it is our prayer that you will be filled with the hope and assurance that comes from knowing Jesus as the resurrection and the life. May this truth bring you peace and inspire you to live boldly in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
